Professionalism and excellence are top priorities. We measure our success by the satisfaction of our clients. Every job we undertake requires strict adherence to our procedure; this guarantees the quality and longevity of the paint, protection of your property, and no over spray or mess left behind.
Preparation
- 1. Safety First: We wear protective clothing, including a respirator mask and disposable nitrile gloves.
- 2. Clean the Substrate to be Sprayed: We start by thoroughly cleaning the substrate using a mixture of mild detergent and water. Remove dirt, grime, and any contaminants. We then rinse the profile and allow it to dry completely.
- 3. Scotch the Surface: We lightly scotch the surface using a 7447+ Scotch-Brite™ hand pad which is a very fine grade aluminium oxide abrasive pad. This usually does the trick making the surface smooth for spraying. If there are imperfections that the Scotch-Brite™ doesn’t work for, we will use a fine-grit sandpaper (around 220-320 grit). This step helps create a slightly rough surface for the paint to adhere to. We are sure to remove any loose or flaking paint if the frames are already painted.
- 4. Mask Off Surrounding Areas: We use painter's tape, plastic sheeting, and masking paper to mask off any adjacent surfaces, glass, or areas we don't want to paint. This helps us to achieve clean lines and avoid overspray.
Painting
- 1. Choose the Right Paint: We use specifically designed paints for the substrates we will be spraying in your desired colour.
- 2. Prepare the Paint Sprayer: We then set up our paint spraying kit. Always making sure it's clean and in good working condition.
- 3. Tac Rag & Degreasing: We use a tac rag to remove any dust or swarf remaining on the surface of the profile. Then we thoroughly clean the profile surface again using panel wipe and a clean white cloth.
- 4. Spray Painting: We spray the profile with a dust coat and check for any contamination before proceeding to spray two further full coats. We allow this to flash off then inspect for inclusions. If any are identified, we remove them with sandpaper and apply a further coat.
- 5. Quality Check: Once spraying is complete, before we unmask the profile, an inspection across all painted surfaces is carried out. This is to ensure we have a flawless finish and no touch ups are needed.
Finishing Touches
- 1. Remove Masking: Once the final coat is applied and has dried, we carefully remove the masking materials.
- 2. Inspect and Touch Up: A final inspection of the painted surface looking for any imperfections. If necessary, we lightly sand any rough spots and touch up with paint.
- 3. Curing: Then allow the paint to cure fully according to the paint manufacturer's instructions. This can take several days, so avoid handling or subjecting the profile to stress during this time.
- 4. Silicone: Once finished we replace any old silicone with new colour matched silicone.
